E-KOREATECH means ‘E-learning’ and ‘Technology of Korea’. It shows the identity of the exclusive website for technology engineering. In October 2014, E-KOREATECH has been established with 7 fields of studies; mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, telecommunication engineering and mechatronics and more. With plenty of content, E-KOREATECH expects to solve problems such as lack of e-learning content in the technology engineering field, because most e-learning contents are related to social science and humanity fields. We, Korea Tech took charge for establishing the e-learning center and developing its contents with the Ministry of employment and labor support.

  E-KOREATECH has 4 courses. ‘The Lifelong Competencies Development Course’ is a long term course which provides an interactive learning environment and evaluation. ‘The Informal Course’ is a comparatively short course which provides modular content. ‘The E-Openmarket Course’ helps people and companies to register their contents freely and to sell them. Lastly, ‘The Credit Course’ supports students to obtain a degree through Work-Study Dual System. It provides standardized educational operation of subject-centered curriculum

What is the role of E-KOREATECH in Korea’s training and education system?

  According to the interview of Lim Kyeonghwa; the president of E-KOREATECH, he said, “Compared to the conglomerates, SMEs (Smaill Medium sized Enterprises) are having problems with lack of resources for training and education, and technology engineering also has a tough time in the e-learning market losing out to the social science and humanity fields. In terms of this situation, E-KOREATECH’s role is very important for all employees and applicants. Because it helps them to get an education without financial and temporal burden. Finally, the competency of workers and the productivity also could be improved.”

  He also revealed E-KOREATECH’s strong ambitions saying that E-KOREATECH will take a big part to realize a national development of lifelong learning system, and it will cooperate with many related organizations. E-KOREATECH will make 300 additional contents until 2016 and 1000 additional contents until 2020.

What are the features of E-KOREATECH?

E-KOREATECH contains 5 developed features of education. 

First, it has a vivid interactive learning environment with online virtual facilities (Simulator, Online laboratory service) which enables to give a feedback to students.   

Second, ‘The Live Seminar’ and ‘Internet Message Board for Debate’ facilitate interactive learning not only lecturer to students but also students to students.  

Third, the contents of E-KOREATECH could be used with smart device such as smart phones and tablets.    

Fourth, since last year, 41 new contents applied to the National Competency Standards (NCS) were developed. Those contents which followed the vision of government policies could be helpful to realize a competency centered society.  

Fifth, Flipped Learnin, which inverts traditional learning methods by delivering online instructionoutside of class and moving homework into classroom will improve the learning effect. Also, Blended Learning, which is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through delivery of content and instruction via digital and online media with some element of student control over time, place, path, or pace is provided.
